About
Stage production — designed, built and worn on stage.
A costume designed and built for the production Doll’s House. The design moved from a black-and-white silhouette study to a full-colour rendering — a fitted bodice, full sleeves with blue cuffs and a long teal skirt — before being realised in fabric.
Elise designed the piece and led its construction, doing the majority of the sewing herself while teaching several peers to cut and read patterns, drape, serge, press seams and work with interfacing.
The gallery follows it from sketch through the satin and sheer skirt layers on the stand to the finished costume on stage.
