About
Illuminated stained-glass dress — tarp, foam and LEDs.
An illuminated “stained glass” dress built from unexpected materials. Scaled drawings were scanned and used to laser-cut self-adhesive foam “leading”, applied to clear greenhouse tarp and hand-coloured with alcohol markers. The panels were sewn together, outlined in more foam and lit from within with LEDs.
By daylight it reads as a floral stained-glass window; at night the internal LEDs glow through the coloured tarp.

Sketches

Process
Laser-cut self-adhesive 2mm black foam leading applied across clear greenhouse tarp.
Hand-coloring greenhouse tarp panels using alcohol markers in vibrant stained glass floral hues. Sewing colored tarp and foam pattern panels together on Brother sewing machine. Completed vibrant stained glass tarp panels ready for final skirt and bodice assembly.
